If you love simple nighttime skincare, this easy DIY moisturizing gel can help your skin feel softer and more hydrated by morning. Unlike many viral recipes, it’s important to keep the formula gentle and avoid ingredients that may irritate the skin.
What You’ll Need
- 2 tablespoons pure aloe vera gel
- 1 teaspoon fragrance-free moisturizer
- 2–3 drops of squalane or jojoba oil (optional)
Important: Although the image shows whole cloves, I don’t recommend adding cloves or clove essential oil directly to a leave-on facial gel. Clove contains compounds such as eugenol that can irritate or sensitize skin, especially at unsuitable concentrations.
How to Make It
Add the aloe vera gel and moisturizer to a clean bowl and mix until smooth. If your skin tends to be dry, add two or three drops of squalane or jojoba oil and mix again.
Prepare only a small amount rather than making a large jar, since homemade water-based skincare without a proper preservative system can become contaminated.
How to Use It 🌙
At night, gently cleanse your face and pat it dry. Apply a thin layer of the mixture to your face, avoiding your eyes and any irritated or broken skin.
Leave it on overnight and wash your face normally the next morning.
Aloe gel can provide a lightweight, soothing feel, while moisturizer helps reduce water loss from the skin. The optional oil adds an extra emollient layer, which may be useful for dry skin.
Will It Replace Makeup?
Despite viral claims such as “Never Need Makeup,” no homemade gel can guarantee flawless skin or eliminate the need for makeup. Think of this recipe simply as a moisturizing nighttime routine that may help your skin look and feel more hydrated.
Always patch-test first on a small area and discontinue use if you experience burning, itching, swelling, or persistent redness.
✨ Healthy-looking skin comes from consistency, not overnight miracles.
