He reportedly lived in Morrison’s leather pants and adopted his habits for an entire year during pre-production. His commitment paid off: he sang all the vocals live on set so flawlessly that original Doors members Ray Manzarek, John Densmore, and Robby Krieger couldn’t tell his voice apart from Morrison’s!
