If you want a quick frozen dessert that tastes rich and chocolatey without a complicated recipe, this apple-banana chocolate ice cream is a great one to try.
It’s thick, creamy, naturally sweet from the fruit, and comes together in just a few minutes with a blender.
Ingredients
- 1 medium apple
- 1 ripe banana
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- 1–2 tablespoons chocolate chips, optional
- A little chocolate shaving for topping, optional
Step 1: Freeze the Fruit
Wash the apple, remove the core, and cut it into small chunks.
Peel the banana and break it into pieces.
Place both the apple and banana pieces in the freezer until completely frozen. For the creamiest texture, freeze them for at least 3–4 hours.
Step 2: Add Everything to the Blender
Place the frozen apple and frozen banana into a strong blender.
Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and about 2 tablespoons of milk.
Start with only a small amount of milk. You can always add a little more if the mixture is too thick to blend.
Step 3: Blend Until Creamy
Blend until the fruit begins to break down.
Stop and scrape down the sides if necessary, then continue blending until the mixture becomes thick, smooth, and creamy.
The goal is a soft-serve ice cream texture, so avoid adding too much milk or it may turn into a smoothie.
Step 4: Add the Chocolate
Once the mixture is creamy, you can blend in a few chocolate chips or fold them in afterward for extra texture.
For a more intense chocolate flavor, add another teaspoon of cocoa powder.
Step 5: Serve
Scoop the chocolate ice cream into a small bowl.
Top with chocolate chips, chocolate shavings, or a few thin slices of banana.
Serve immediately for a soft, creamy texture.
Want It Firmer?
If you prefer scoopable ice cream, transfer the mixture to a freezer-safe container and freeze for around 1–2 hours.
Let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping.
Quick Recipe
1 frozen apple + 1 frozen banana + 2 tbsp cocoa + 2–3 tbsp milk
Blend until thick and creamy → top with chocolate → enjoy! 🍎🍌🍫
Tips for the Best Texture
Use a very ripe banana for more natural sweetness.
Add milk slowly so the mixture stays thick.
If your blender struggles, stop and stir instead of adding too much liquid.
For extra crunch, add chopped nuts or chocolate chips just before serving.
