Important Note on “Collagen Gel” Claims

You might have seen similar homemade mixtures referred to as “collagen gels” online. While this DIY blend is wonderful for moisturizing and helping your skin look smoother, it’s really important to remember that a homemade topical mixture like this doesn’t literally replace lost collagen in your skin or work like medical treatments such as Botox. Its main role is to deeply hydrate, soften the skin, and support a more comfortable, smoother-looking surface.

What You’ll Need: Ingredients

This recipe makes approximately one small jar of night gel, perfect for trying out!

  • 2 teaspoons Vaseline petroleum jelly
  • 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel (pure, without added colors or fragrances if possible)
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey
  • 1 Vitamin E soft-gel capsule
  • ½ teaspoon rose water
  • A very small pinch of clove powder (start with just a tiny bit!)
  • 2–3 drops fresh lemon juice

How to Make Your Night Glow Gel

Creating this gel is super simple!

  1. Melt the Vaseline: In a small, heat-safe bowl, gently melt the 2 teaspoons of Vaseline. You can do this by placing the bowl over a larger bowl of hot water (a double boiler method) or in the microwave for a few seconds until it’s just melted.
  2. Combine Liquids: Once the Vaseline is melted and slightly cooled (but still liquid), add the 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel, 1 teaspoon of raw honey, and ½ teaspoon of rose water.
  3. Add Vitamin E: Pierce the Vitamin E soft-gel capsule and squeeze out the oil into the mixture. Stir everything together well.
  4. Introduce Clove and Lemon: Add a very small pinch of clove powder and 2-3 drops of fresh lemon juice. Stir continuously until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and you have a smooth, gel-like consistency.
  5. Store: Transfer your freshly made night gel into a clean, airtight small jar or container.

Important Note on Cloves

When using cloves in DIY beauty, it’s crucial to be cautious. We recommend using a very small pinch of clove powder for this recipe. If you happen to have clove essential oil, please do not use it undiluted on your facial skin. Clove essential oil is highly concentrated and can be quite irritating and strong for delicate facial skin. Clove powder is the gentler and safer choice for a DIY application like this.

How to Use Your Night Gel

After cleansing and toning your face in the evening, take a small amount of your homemade Vaseline, Clove & Lemon Night Gel. Gently massage it onto your face and neck. A little goes a long way! Leave it on overnight and rinse off in the morning.

Always do a patch test on a small area of your skin before applying any new DIY mixture to your entire face, especially with ingredients like clove and lemon. This helps ensure you don’t have any sensitivities.

We hope you enjoy this simple, nourishing night gel! It’s a lovely way to give your skin some extra care and wake up feeling refreshed and radiant.
