Who Is Lucie Arnaz?
Lucie Désirée Arnaz was born on July 17, 1951, in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of two television legends: Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, the stars and creative forces behind I Love Lucy.
Growing up with parents that famous might have made it easy to remain in their shadow, but Lucie developed a career spanning more than five decades.
She Started Acting With Her Mother
Arnaz began appearing on The Lucy Show and, at just 15, became a regular cast member on Here’s Lucy alongside her mother.
She remained with Here’s Lucy during its six-season run and later starred in her own television series, The Lucie Arnaz Show.
So television wasn’t simply something she inherited from her family — it became the starting point for a much broader career.
Broadway Became a Major Part of Her Career
Lucie Arnaz also became an accomplished stage performer.
Her Broadway and theater credits include:
- They’re Playing Our Song
- Lost in Yonkers
- Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
- Pippin
- The Witches of Eastwick
- Master Class
Her performance in They’re Playing Our Song earned her several theater honors, helping establish her as much more than simply “Lucille Ball’s daughter.”
A Golden Globe-Nominated Film Role 🎬
In 1980, Arnaz appeared opposite Neil Diamond and Laurence Olivier in The Jazz Singer.
Her performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture.
That remains one of her best-known movie roles.
She Won an Emmy — Behind the Camera
One of the most interesting chapters of Arnaz’s career came when she helped preserve the story of her famous parents.
She served as executive producer of Lucy & Desi: A Home Movie, an intimate documentary about Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
The program won a Primetime Emmy in 1993, giving Lucie a major television achievement of her own.
She later executive-produced the I Love Lucy 50th Anniversary Special with her brother, Desi Arnaz Jr., which also received an Emmy nomination.
Did You Know?
Lucie Arnaz is also a singer and concert performer.
She has toured for decades and released albums including Just in Time and Latin Roots, the latter celebrating the Latin musical heritage connected to her father, Desi Arnaz.
And she is still active: her official site lists new performances and projects scheduled into 2026.
