Vaseline, Baking Soda & Clove DIY Beauty Mix

Simple home beauty hacks often go viral because they use ingredients many people already have in the kitchen or bathroom. This DIY mix combines petroleum jelly, baking soda, and cloves to create a rich exfoliating treatment for rough, dry areas of the skin.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Vaseline or plain petroleum jelly
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • A very small pinch of finely ground cloves

How to Make It

Add the Vaseline to a small clean bowl. Sprinkle in the baking soda and a tiny amount of ground cloves.

Mix everything together until you get a smooth, even paste.

How to Use

Apply a small amount to rough areas such as elbows, knees, hands, or heels.

Massage very gently for about 20–30 seconds, then rinse with lukewarm water and pat the skin dry.

Finish with a plain moisturizer if needed.

Use only occasionally rather than every day.

Why These Ingredients Are Popular

Vaseline helps lock moisture into the skin and can make dry areas feel softer.

Baking soda provides a mild gritty texture, but it can also irritate sensitive skin because of its alkaline pH.

Cloves contain aromatic plant compounds, but they can also be irritating, so only a tiny amount should be used.

Important Skin-Safety Note

Despite viral claims, this mixture has not been proven to reverse aging or make someone “look decades younger.” Avoid using it around the eyes or on broken, irritated, acne-prone, or sensitive facial skin.

Always patch-test first and stop using it if you notice burning, redness, itching, or discomfort.

✨ Sometimes the simplest beauty ideas are the most interesting—but gentle skincare is always the better choice.
